News Writing

In December 2012, I accepted a full-time multimedia journalist position with the Woodstock Sentinel-Review, a daily Sun Media publication. I covered the city and county council beats. I left the Sentinel-Review for an On-Air presenter position with The Weather Network in 2013.

Here is a selection of my Woodstock Sentinel-Review articles:

> Methadone Clinic                                > Mixed emotions over cancelled school walkout

> Legal dispute re: Oxford Gardens      > Revitalizing Woodstock's core

> Kids' Literacy                                       > Fire budget dominates discussion

> Food Sustainability                               > Fluoride in Drinking Water

In March 2012, I accepted a full-time editor/multimedia journalist position with Sun Media. I was the editor of two new weekly community newspapers: the K-W Review and the Guelph Review. I wrote a weekly column on a variety of topics. Unfortunately, the papers ceased operations in December 2012.

Here is a selection of my weekly columns, called A Few Minutes with Mike.

> Social Media     > Segregated Schools     > Gas Prices     > Full-Day Kindergarten

> Circumcision     > NHL Lockout

In 2011 and 2012, I worked as a freelance reporter/photographer with the Metro News London. Here is a selection of news articles from the Metro News London.
